SPARE made contacts in Belgrade

SPARE made contacts at the VI Environmental Ministerial Conference of Easter Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA).
The Sixth Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe" (EfE) was held in Belgrade (Serbia) from 10 to 12 October 2007. SPARE participated with exhibition stand, presented by SPARE team, including Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature, BIOM (Kyrgyzstan), For the Earth (Tajikistan), Friends of the Baltic (Russia), Eco-vision (Georgia).

Presentation of SPARE experiences was made on official side event about education for sustainable development and energy issues, as well as side event on low cost energy solutions (Read more).

Representatives from EECCA region, Western Europe, Canada and USA participated on the conference, from ministries of environment and education, various international organizations, and NGOs. Ministerial declarations were approved on both education for sustainable energy (ESD), and further cooperation process within the EfE process.

SPARE was by its stand a visible element on the conference. SPARE made a lot of useful contacts, both with new possible participants, as well as with representatives from ministries of education and environment from different countries.

Ministry of Education of Serbia arranged panel discussion on "ESD in addressing sustainable production and consumption". SPARE was invited to give a presentation which was successfully held by Anna Kirilenko from SPARE partner BIOM in Kyrgyzstan.

SPARE side event on low cost energy solutions was arranged early morning and was difficult to find - and did unfortunately not get too much attention. Presentations were made on solar energy project in Kyrgyzstan, windows restoration in Armenia, and energy efficiency projects from Tajikistan. The presentations can be downloaded here.
