September 26 the presentation of SPARE project took place in Armenian office of Academy for Educational Development (AED) in Yerevan. All regional (marz) coordinators and representatives of Youth and Community Action Program (YCAP) participated in it. The ways of further cooperation of two projects were discussed.
This cooperation started two years ago, when Karakert Youth Club members initiated to invitation of SPARE national coordinator to their meeting to speak about environmental problems in Armenia, and particularly in Armavir marz. Within those presentation Mrs. Anush Gevorgyan has told about SPARE project and its activities in Armenia. Youth club members showed a big interest to SPARE and suggested to connect SPARE and YCAP activities. Since at time SPARE lessons were held in YCAP Youth club in Karakert.
As a result of those cooperation developed by Armavir marz coordinator Mr. Tigran Ghazaryan, Mrs. Anush Gevorgyan met Mr. Nicholas J Bruno, Chief of Party, YCAP/Armenia,Academy for Educational Development, and Mrs. Anna Melkonyan, YCAP project director. Mrs. Anush Gevorgyan has presented International SPARE activities and SPARE in Armenia. The project seemed very attractive to YCAP. After this Mr. Tigran Ghazaryan participated in SPARE Trans-Caucasus regional seminar. At the same time further cooperation possibilities were discussed, and it was decided to organize SPARE presentation for all YCAP coordinators.
At the Caucasus regional SPARE seminar Mr. Ghazaryan has made a presentation on YCAP/AED goals and objectives and meat SPARE International coordinator Mrs. Yngvild Lorentzen. They discussed possibility of further cooperation in frames of two projects. This cooperation was accepted with pleasure by SPARE International coordinator as well.
The presentation of SPARE project took place on 26th of September 2007 in Armenian office of AED. Mrs. Anush Gevorgyan presented NGO Eco-Club «Tapan», SPARE International, its history, project goals and objectives, activities, mainly in Armenia, possibility of further cooperation with YCAP. Mr. Tigran Ghazaryan presented the activities carried out in Karakert Youth club in frames of SPARE, similarity of two projects and possibility of cooperation.
Mainly the establishment of «YCAP — SPARE» centers was suggested. In this case the problem of technical availability and further participation of SPARE pupils (who has already passed the SPARE course) will be solved. All coordinators were inspired and were hopeful that further cooperation will be successful. Mr. Bruno said that he considers these two projects are very similar in their goal and objectives and further cooperation can be possible.
The final decisions should be made by each marz Youth Club. The coordinators took all materials and will present SPARE in their clubs. If other marz clubs will support cooperation with SPARE, then successful experience of Karakert «YCAP — SPARE» cooperation may be developed in other marzes of Armenia.
