Energy Saving Seminars in Western Kazakhstan, 31 October – 6 November 2017.

6 Energy Saving Seminar were conducted in 3 cities of western Kazakhstan.  Seminars brought together more than 200 participants during  autumn vacation period  31 October – 6 November. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sciences, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Astana Expo 201, SPARE  International, school project on the application of energy saving and energy efficiency, and local civil society organizations “Institute of Human Health”  and EkoObraz participated in the seminar.

Teachers of elementary schools, and natural sciences and other line subjects of the secondary schools from the cities of Aktau, Atyrau and Uralska discussed  a teaching methodology  of  energy saving issues and climate change adaptation. The seminars conducted in national and Russian languages consisted of  theoretical and practical parts. Participants outlined the importance of integration of environmental and  energy issues into the curriculum of afterschool educational programs and in research and applying methodologies of the educational institutions.

The similar seminars  were conducted in 2015 in the cities of:  Astana, Almaty Kokshetau,  Kostanay,  Petropvlovskye,  Ust-kamenogorsk (Oskemen) and its continuation and further involvement of more and more  cities speaks of the high interest expressed by schools to have integrated the environmental protection and energy saving issues in the school programs.
