SPARE is a global network for practical energy education. Join us in making the UNESCO decade on education for sustainable development a reality! SPARE schools combine theory with implementation of energy efficiency measures, use of renewable energy and dissemination of ideas for sustainable energy.
SPARE is open for all schools in all countries. Welcome to participate in global challenge for sustainable energy solutions!
Your school can be a licensed SPARE school when one or more classes/groups in the coming year will fulfil the main criteria. This can be done trough elective program, education integrated in the curriculum or as club activities.
The main criteria for becoming a SPARE school:
a) Conduct education about sustainable energy (including rational use of energy, energy efficiency and use for renewable energy)
b) Implementing measures to reduce energy consumption or experiment with renewable energy (including awareness on energy saving behaviour at school)
c) Inform the public about school energy activities and promote rational use of energy. (including information to families on energy saving behaviour and the environmental reasons for energy efficiency and use of renewable energy)
Licensing procedure:
1. Send the filled in the application form to the national coordinator (if available) or international coordinator, on paper or electronically. The form and coordinator addresses available at www.spareworld.org
2. SPARE coordinator controls the application to see that everything is filled in and activities are in accordance with the aims of SPARE.
3. The SPARE coordinator issues the SPARE school certificate as a nice design display on the wall in countries that have a national SPARE coordinator or electronically where there is no national coordinator.
4. All SPARE schools will be listed on SPARE web page.
